One of the common questions we get asked at Manuka Doctor is “what’s the best way to take it”?
The answer of course is there is no right or wrong way to take Manuka honey.
For many people, it’s best taken direct from the spoon, stirred into drinks, breakfast cereals or hot drinks.
Recently we heard about actress Courtney Cox making a Manuka Honey shot which sounded like a creative and interesting way to consume your daily dose of honey.
The ‘Friends’ and ‘Cougar Town’ star told website Get The Gloss that she’s not big into heavy smoothies, so instead makes super-nutritious Manuka shots by adding turmeric, lemon, ginger to a spoonful of her favoured Manuka. Sounds yummy to us!
Cox’s dedication to healthy drinks is well-known, and it’s not unusual to see her with some on her social media pages.
The idea of a healthy shot is to give your body important vitamins, minerals and nutrients quickly. Normally making it part of your morning routine.
Making it quickly and easily is important. As is the ability to make it without creating a lot of washing up you need to do afterwards!
Here’s our simple and very natural Manuka Honey shot recipe for you to try at home:
Cut a lemon in half
Squeeze each half into a bowl, removing the pips as you do so. But don’t throw away the two lemon halves just yet, you will see what later!
Add 2 cloves of finely chopped raw garlic to the bowl, along with a pinch of cayenne pepper, and a small amount of grated fresh ginger.
Add a tablespoon full of Manuka Doctor honey to the mix and stir all ingredients well.
This will give your shot a nice texture.
Finally, pour the entire mixture back into the two halves of your lemon (which you extracted the juice from)
Consume your finished Manuka Honey shot in its entirety, including all the lemon pulp.
Simply hold it in your hand and cup it as if you’re holding a fruit.
Simply, delicious, healthy and – minimal washing up!
